Mission Statement

The purpose of VanArts is to communicate knowledge about the principles and techniques of animation to people with artistic potential for this field. Our programs have a character animation focus that integrates core artistic and technological skills, providing a foundation for entry level positions in the industry. Through our dedication to the medium of animation, we inspire and motivate students to develop their talents and perpetuate animation as an art form and method of communication.

About Us

VanArts is that unique institution where art and technology merge in our accredited visual arts diploma programs in 2D & 3D animation, game art & design and visual effects. Located in Vancouver, BC Canada, a world-class city and home of the 2010 Winter Olympics, VanArts’ animation program was founded by internationally renowned animator Lee Mishkin, animator/director of an Academy-Award winning film and two-time Emmy nominee.

Each year, VanArts receives visits from industry leaders and master animators who instruct and provide on-going curricula feedback. These have included Bill Matthews, retired Manager of Artist Development at Walt Disney Feature Animation, Academy-Award winning British animator Bob Godfrey, veteran Disney/Hanna-Barbera animator Ken Southworth and Pixar animators Andrew Gordon & Mike Venturini.

We look forward to welcoming you as a student to VanArts. In all of our programs, our faculty and staff are here to help you realize your vision.
