According to the Washington Business Journal, Virginia ranks sixth in The Milken Institute's State Technology and Science Index, which measures each state's technology and overall contributions to economic development. The Alliance for Science & Technology Research in America reports that Virginia's 2005 technology employment wages ranked fourth in the country.
