Things are sizzling for New Mexico computer training graduates. The Southwest is becoming a hot ground for tech careers in the coming decade. New Mexico courts college grads and mid-career changers with a globally connected economy and prospective growth.

In a recent study, the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation ranked New Mexico #8 in the country for high-tech jobs representing an overall percentage of total employment in the state. The American Electronics Association reports that the state's high-tech industry grew by 16 percent--to a total of 49,500 tech workers--in 2006.

New Mexico boasts a collection of high-tech industries that include laser equipment, data processing centers, and eco-friendly technologies such as solar energy. The largest employers offering jobs to computer graduates and tech professionals include nuclear weapons firm Sandia National Laboratories, the world's largest semiconductor company Intel, and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
