Boston.com reports that a 2008 'Cyberstates' study issued by the American Electronics Association shows that the Massachusetts' high technology industry added 5,100 net jobs in 2006, an increase of 2 percent.

Also, there were 87 high tech workers out of every 1,000 private-sector workers in this industry alone.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, computer and mathematic science workers in Massachusetts earned a mean annual salary of $79,700 in 2006. Top technology employers in Massachusetts include IBM in Waltham, Accenture in Wellesley, CGI and Keane Inc. in Boston, Dynamics Research Corp. in Andover, and Eliassen Group Inc. and Edgewater Technology Inc. in Wakefield.
