Wichita Technical Institute, Inc. was established in January 1954 for the primary purpose of creating an educational institution to provide facilities for those individuals seeking to become properly trained as qualified electronics technicians. School facilities originated in downtown Wichita, located on Broadway for almost 17 years. In October 2002 WTI Topeka, a Branch of Wichita Technical Institute, started its first class teaching Electronics Technology. In January 2004 WTI opened a Branch in Joplin, MO teaching Electronics Technology.

Over the years, electronics circuitry, electronics devices, instrumentation and industrial practices have become so sophisticated that the subject matter and basics of yesterday are no longer applicable today. Accordingly, WTI curriculum, laboratory instruction and instrumentation have adapted to the evolution of today's technology.

It is our mission to continually improve our courses, procedures and techniques to produce better and more highly qualified graduates year after year. We work hand-in-hand with the industry to provide trained individuals who will fulfill today's industry needs. Our training concentrates on the development of professionalism and technical skills. Professionalism is required to gain employment; skills are required to stay employed. Individuals without skills are forced to work multiple jobs to make ends meet.

Wichita Technical Institute, WTI Topeka and WTI Joplin are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology.
