In with the New CCNP Exams

With Cisco redeveloping some major exams in its CCNP (Cisco Certified Networking Professional) training programs, students have a chance to expand their skills even more. Current students will still benefit from the study they're doing now, and new students will be geared toward new exams. Both lead to valuable CCNP certification.

The updates to Cisco's CCNP training programs include the retiring of a few old exams, and the onset of a few new ones. Check it out:

• BSCI Exam

The current BSCI exam is being removed from Cisco's information technology training programs. A new BSCI exam will take its place at the end of this year.
• BCMSN Exam

The current BCMSN exam is also being replaced by a new program at the year's end.
• BCRAN Exam

The BCRAN exam is being permanently removed from Cisco's information technology training. It will be replaced with an exam called "Implementing Secure Converged Wide Area Networks."

What to Do

If you are currently enrolled in one of Cisco's training programs to earn your CCNP certification, it's business as usual. You will take the current exam. If you are a new student and have not yet enrolled in information technology training, you will take the new exam. Both the new and old exams provide equal credit toward certification.

Cisco often changes or updates its information technology training programs to keep pace with the newest technology, and its CCNP programs are no exception. Cisco certification can take about a year to earn, so it's important for current students to keep going and not miss a technology beat.

New CCNP Training Students

If you're a new student, waiting to start won't help your career in information technology. If you are seeking a job in networking, Cisco certification is a great resume builder. A networking career in information technology isn't complete without it.
