Health care technology gets the nod for stimulating growth in the Badger State. Wisconsin has made great strides in the addition of a competitive information technology infrastructure which is reflected in its tech growth rankings.

According to the Wisconsin Technology Network, Wisconsin has moved up five spots since 2004 for a 22nd ranking in the Milken Institute's annual State Technology and Science index. The Alliance for Science & Technology Research in America reports Wisconsin's 2005 high tech payroll at $4.6 billion dollars and an annual employment growth rate at around 2.5%. The LaCrosse Tribune lists Wisconsin's top employers as an indicator of the state's shifting economy. Companies actively seeking tech graduates and mid-career changers include Logistics Health Inc., CenturyTel, Chart Industries, Gundersen Lutheran, and Franciscan Skemp.
