Desktop Application Training FAQ

What are Desktop Applications?

Desktop applications are simply the programs that run on your PC.

What training is available for desktop applications?

Classes can be found for almost every desktop application that has achieved any modest level of popularity. Often the company that created the product offers training, but for popular applications many classes, both from the company and independent, are available. In many cases different levels of classes (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) are available too.

Who would want to pursue desktop application training? What jobs are available?

Any one who must use an application for their job might pursue training. If you are interested in a certain job it might be a good idea to find out what type of computer programs are typically used and learn to use them. Many employers will offer training to employees in the applications they use for their job, especially when a new application is introduced to the work place. Office Suites like MS-Office have become so prevalent in the work place that almost anyone can benefit from a strong understanding of how to use them.

Are there certifications for Desktop Applications?

Yes, many companies offer certifications in their applications. Some examples include Microsoft’s MOUS (Microsoft Office User Specialist), Adobe, and Macromedia. Check with the company that creates the application you are interested in for more specifics about what is available.
